From one home to another home.
Here is some photo sharing (AKA…bragging) from my SPRING BREAK.
(Yes, I am 27 years old and not currently attending school, and will continue to celebrate spring break as if I was 18 on my way to Maimi, I would like to think I am contributing to the economy.)
PDX to SFO, SFO to the BART train, and BART train to coffee.
Show up to little brothers apartment, furnished with a lone sofa, and 7 or so bikes, makes sense…
and WHADDA YA KNOW, we have the same impeccable taste!
And by impeccable, I mean grime time.
(did I mention, my brother is a mind blowing artist)
48 hours later, mama is calling me to come home, so under that stained Market sidewalk, down an escalator, one train ride later, I am whisked off into the East Bay. A scenery in which I took so much for granted my first 17 years. All the orchards, the windmills, the hills, and sycamore was something I looked past, and dreamed of the big buildings, the bustling sidewalks, and cultural diversity.
Spoiled beyond belief, my eyes had a feast of spring. And then as if my heart couldn’t contain one more gushy, lovey, (I think the world is happy) moment, my mom decided to take me and baby sis out wine tasting.
Wente Vineyards is where we found ourselves. Incredible views, outstanding menu, perfect wine, outlandish prices, and gawking galore. Hey now, I did my very best mother dearest, covered my tattoos, minimized excess jewelry tendencies, and left the platforms at home, though I would most certainly not for-go the silver booties…now that is asking WAY too much.
And all of sudden, it is time for the goodbye’s. I leave home with a exploding heart of gratitude and an empty wallet. It never is enough time to see everyone you want to see. But there will be a next time.
A very special thank you to Kipp Knode and his ‘designer’ axes. I mean, who doesn’t wish they could carry this around with them through the foggy morning hillside.

In the midst of architectural ruin and decay, the life that resides is so much more alive in the representation of preservation.
The palette that exists in the buildings is one that I have only found when wearing my rose colored glasses.
A special thank you to Michael Eastman for sharing his more then gifted eye and documenting what I have only imagined.
And maybe it’s the perfect temperature range of 69-80 degrees. Maybe its the socialist sharing of goods and rationing. Maybe it is the lack of progression and conservation of what once was.
But as I begin my week in these photos, I hope to one day live the life that they embody.
(And on another note, I would most defiantly need to buy this bathing suit. CANNOT GET ENOUGH BLACK MILK AS OF LATE.)
Brick & Black were able to take part in out first Art Direction gig for some incredibly talented friends at Juliet Zulu. We hired a team, showed up for a few days, and did what they told us to. Apparently they know what they are doing, because all of a sudden I feel the need to go out and buy their headphones.
‘Working under CINCO DESIGN and their awesome campaign to introduce the general public to MONSTER’S new INSPIRATION headphones, this video was about feeling like the BTS at a fashion shoot. There are elements of reality and elements of fiction within this video. We love walking that line.’
So we share with you the end product…
We had way too much fun to call this a ‘job’, and are currently interested in finding out how to get hired to be surrounded by so many good looking creatives while provided with catered meals on a regular basis.
Thanks a million to Peter Black, Sarah Simmons-Meyer, and Harry Nedley for being the best hired team we could of asked for. And a special super-dee-duper thank you to Zak Davis for thinking of us.
Enter with us into to the wonderful world of Coava.
I spend all too much time at this immaculate space and have gotten to know the talented crew. They take a lot of pride in what they do, and it shows. Crafting each cup of coffee individually using the chemex and their invention of the kone. The open industrial space is warmed with the bamboo bar build out and the handsome roaster is being used more times then not on my daily visits.
I know we enjoyed our coffee for today. I hope you all take the time to treat yourself.
(and a big thank you to barista Jeremy for your cappuccino skills)
(I would like to say you are welcome ahead of time)
For the love of shoes! But no, not just shoes. More like magic that you wear on your feet.
Solestruck is a nationally recognized online phenomenon that has been blowing hearts and minds for a while. I was one of their blog/website addicts for months before I realized that PORTLAND HAD A STOREFRONT. I guess I had just assumed that it was an online only type of deal, and that if there was such a thing as a city lucky enough to hold all the best shoes in one location, it would be in New York or Los Angeles.
Well it get’s better, Solestruck was just able to move locations and create a space that showcases like no other. You walk in and immediately are drawn to the glowing eye candy that is displayed in some sort of futuristic perfection. You kinda feel like you stepped into a space ship and joined the shoe party blasting off to heaven.

And so here you have us, being obnoxiously pleased, having shoegasms, and fighting Solestruck’s battle:
“to rid the world of ugly shoes, one pair at a time”.
We wanted to share with you another great night had at Mario’s featuring Hudson. It was a wonderful chance to get to know the brand better chatting with Ricky. And here are a few shots taken from the night. Along with their Fall 2011 ad campaign.
Brick and Black with the dapper Mario himself

With Simon from Mario’s and Ricky
And always, thank you Simon for the invite.
